Over the course of the week we we get asked a variety of different questions and this week’s question was, What is the difference between LED and halogen lamps?
Well first of all this is a halogen lamp. The way it works as a filament inside which current passes through and heats up a small amount of hydrogen gas inside which allows it to run brighter and hotter.
Halogen lamps waste 80% of the power consumption in and they turn that into heat and only 20% is turned to light. the difference is an LED lamp has a little diode in the centre, which looks like a little yellow square.
What happens is the electrons jump over that and that actually gets turned into light, this only waste 20% into Heat and 80% is turned into light making this a much more energy efficient solution for your lighting requirements in your home.
