Understanding the EICR Codes
Not every observation has the same level of urgency. Findings are normally classified using recognised EICR codes:
Danger Present
There is an immediate risk of injury and urgent action is required. Where possible, we will make the danger safe before leaving.
Potentially Dangerous
A defect that may not present immediate danger but could become dangerous under fault conditions. Remedial work is required.
Improvement Recommended
Does not automatically make the report unsatisfactory. It highlights an area where improving the installation would increase safety or bring it closer to current standards.
Further Investigation Required
Recorded where an issue cannot be fully assessed during the initial inspection and further investigation is needed without delay.

Why Very Cheap EICRs Can Be a Warning Sign
One of the biggest problems we see is electrical testing being advertised at a price that does not allow enough time to carry out the inspection properly.
An unrealistically low quote may win the initial booking, but the electrician may then rush the inspection, carry out limited testing or rely heavily on visual checks.
